M.S.A. “BB” CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP AT U.M.B.C.
May 17, 1991
Varsity Boys’ lacrosse was at first not viewed as a championship prospect. They were ranked third in the M.S.A. BB Conference, behind first place John Carroll and second place McDonough. To gain a playoff spot, the team had to first beat McDonough, a team they had pre-viously lost to 8-3 in regular season play The team rallied, winning behind Todd Helman’s (’92) two goals. The team was then tied with McDonough for second place, forcing a playoff game. Friends won 9-8 behind Stephen Banerjee’s (’92) three goals and Max Everett’s (’93) one-second overtime goal. They then headed for the championship game versus John Carroll, suffering a 5-2 loss. They played remarkably well, considering heavy thunderstorms that caused a thirty minute delay in the game.
